ABOUT SEABOURN ALL INCLUSIVE

A Legend Redefining Its Future

Seabourn has been synonymous with ultra-luxury ocean travel for nearly four decades. Born in 1988, the line pioneered the concept of small-ship luxury — intimate vessels, near-impeccable service and an all-inclusive fare that genuinely meant all-inclusive.

Today, Seabourn operates five ships across three distinct product lines: the classic Odyssey class — represented by Seabourn Quest — the contemporary Encore class (Encore and Ovation), and the purpose-built Expedition class vessels, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, designed for remote-destination voyaging.

The sale of Seabourn Sojourn represents a broader fleet rationalisation. The resulting five-ship fleet is more focused and operationally streamlined — but the question every serious luxury traveller now asks is whether Seabourn's legendary guest experience has been fully maintained through the transition.

SEABOURN CLUB NOTE
Seabourn Club — once considered the gold standard of cruise loyalty programmes — has undergone significant changes in recent years. Members report meaningful reductions in benefits and point-earning rates compared to the programme's previous iteration. While it still rewards frequent guests, it is no longer the differentiating advantage it once was.

CUISINE & DINING

Exceptional Dining, Evolved

All dining is included across all venues — no surcharges. After The Thomas Keller culinary partnership concluded in spring 2024, this was repalced by Solis, Seabourn's own in-house fine dining concept on the Encore class ships.

🍽️

 THE RESTAURANT

The main dining room — open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Relaxed dress code, open-seating. A rotating menu drawing on destination-inspired cuisine. Consistently the heart of the Seabourn experience.

 SOLIS

Seabourn's own signature fine dining venue, replacing The Grill by Thomas Keller. Contemporary European cuisine served in an elegant reserved-dining setting. Complimentary — no surcharge. Encore class ships and smaller version on Quest.

🌿

 THE COLONNADE

Casual buffet-style dining with a changing regional menu. By evening, it transforms into a themed reservable venue. An excellent mid-point between formal and relaxed dining.

🍣

 SUSHI RESTAURANT

Fresh sushi, sashimi and Japanese small plates in a dedicated venue. Complimentary, no surcharge. An Encore class exclusive — consistently one of the most popular dining options on Encore and Ovation.

🥩

 THE PATIO

Pool-deck casual dining with grilled items, salads and lighter plates. The perfect setting for a relaxed al fresco lunch at sea. No reservation required. Reimagines as Earth & Ocean in the evenings.

SEABOURN SQUARE

The social and culinary hub — combining coffee, light bites, pastries and library into one central lounge. The natural gathering point for morning coffee and afternoon refreshments aboard all ships in the fleet.

DINING NOTE
All restaurants are included in the Seabourn fare. The Thomas Keller partnership — which brought The Grill and TK branded menus — concluded a few years ago. Solis, the in-house replacement, has been positively received by guests on the Encore class. The Grill concept does not operate on expedition ships.

WHO IS SEABORN BEST FOR?

Is Seabourn the Right Cruise Line for You?

Seabourn excels for a specific type of traveller. Understanding whether the line's character, fleet and product genuinely match your expectations is the most important step before booking. Here is our honest guide to who Seabourn is best suited to in 2026 — and, just as usefully, who might be better served elsewhere.

BEST MATCH

🚢 Experienced Luxury Cruise Travellers

If you have sailed with Silversea, Crystal or Regent and now seek a more intimate ship atmosphere with a higher crew-to-guest ratio, Seabourn is the natural next step. The line's reputation for remembering guest preferences and delivering genuinely personal service is best appreciated by travellers who can recognise the difference.

  • Sailed luxury lines before and want something more personal
  • Value crew-to-guest ratios above all else
  • Prefer 264–600 guests over mega-ship scale
EXPEDITION

🧊 Polar & Expedition Cruise Seekers

Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit are purpose-built, ice-class expedition ships carrying just 264 guests. For travellers researching best luxury expedition cruise lines for Antarctica, these ships offer two helicopters, an extensive Zodiac fleet and a dedicated naturalist team — without sacrificing suite-level accommodation.

  • Antarctica, Arctic, Norwegian fjords and remote islands
  • Expert-led naturalist and expedition programme
  • Luxury suites, open bar and all dining included
DINING

🍽️ Discerning Diners Who Demand Inclusion

Seabourn's fare includes every restaurant with zero surcharge — from the main Restaurant to Solis fine dining and the Sushi Restaurant on Encore-class ships. For guests comparing all-inclusive luxury cruise dining options, Seabourn remains one of the most complete packages available, with an open bar from embarkation to disembarkation.

  • All restaurants included — no extra charge, ever
  • Open bar including Champagne, wine and spirits
  • 24-hour in-suite dining from any venue
ITINERARIES

🗺️ Destination-Focused World Voyagers

Seabourn's small-ship size enables it to call at smaller, less-visited ports that larger luxury ships cannot access. For guests prioritising world cruise itineraries on a small luxury ship, the combination of Quest's global deployment and the expedition ships' remote-destination reach is unmatched in the Seabourn fleet.

  • Access to boutique ports unavailable to larger ships
  • Global deployment across all major ocean regions
  • Expedition ships reach Antarctica, Arctic and beyond
OCCASIONS

💑 Couples Celebrating Special Occasions

For guests planning a luxury cruise honeymoon or anniversary voyage, Seabourn's intimate scale and exceptional personal service create an environment difficult to replicate. The ability to dine anywhere, drink anything and be recognised by name from day two makes milestone celebrations genuinely feel special rather than transactional.

  • Intimate atmosphere — never lost in a crowd
  • Service team remembers your preferences
  • Milestone celebration packages available on request
NOT IDEAL FOR

🔭 Who Seabourn May Not Suit

Seabourn may not be the right choice if you are seeking the newest fleet at sea — Explora Journeys launched in 2023 with nine included restaurants and all-new ships. Budget-conscious travellers will find better value on premium lines. Families seeking extensive children's programmes and activity-rich mega-ships will also be better served elsewhere.

  • Seeking the newest ships — Explora Journeys launched 2023
  • Families needing dedicated children's clubs
  • Travellers prioritising loyalty benefits above experience

OUR REVIEW

Our Honest Seabourn Review

Seabourn's greatest strength has always been its people. The crew-to-guest ratio remains exceptional, and the warmth and genuine attentiveness of the service team continues to define the on-board atmosphere. It is the kind of experience where crew remember your preferences from day two, and where the pace of life adjusts instinctively to yours.

The Encore class ships are beautifully designed and carry 600 guests in spacious all-suite accommodation. The transition away from Thomas Keller was significant — but Solis, the in-house fine dining replacement, has been well received and holds its own against comparable fine dining programmes at sea.

The expedition ships — Venture and Pursuit — remain among the strongest purpose-built expedition cruise products available. The withdrawal of the submarine programme removes a headline feature, but the Zodiac and helicopter shore access programme remains highly capable for polar and remote destinations.

The honest challenge for Seabourn in 2026 is competitive context. Explora Journeys has launched with all-new ships and nine included restaurants. Seabourn Club — once the loyalty benchmark — has been materially revised downward, and no new builds are in prospect. For guests already devoted to Seabourn, the experience remains exceptional. For new luxury cruisers comparing options, the fleet's relative age and programme changes deserve careful consideration.

"The service remains the finest we have experienced at sea. The crew on Seabourn Ovation knew our preferences by day two — and were anticipating them by day four. That human quality is something no new ship can instantly replicate."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QESTIONS

Seabourn FAQs

Our readers' most-asked questions about Seabourn Cruise Line— answered honestly, based on first-hand experience and extensive research.

Is Seabourn still the best ultra-luxury cruise line?

Seabourn remains one of the finest ultra-luxury cruise experiences afloat, particularly for guests who value intimate ship atmosphere and exceptional personal service. The competitive landscape has evolved significantly however — Explora Journeys has launched an all-new fleet, and Seabourn Club has been revised. Seabourn is excellent — but no longer unrivalled.

What happened to Seabourn Sojourn?

Seabourn Sojourn has been sold and has left the Seabourn fleet. The remaining five ships — Quest, Encore, Ovation, Venture and Pursuit — represent a focused, streamlined operation across ocean and expedition voyaging. No replacement vessel has been announced.

Is The Grill by Thomas Keller still on Seabourn?

No. The Seabourn and Thomas Keller partnership concluded approximately two years ago. The Grill by Thomas Keller has been replaced by Solis — Seabourn's own in-house signature fine dining venue available on the Encore class ships (Encore and Ovation). Solis is contemporary European fine dining, complimentary with no surcharge.

What is Seabourn Square?

Seabourn Square is the signature social and hospitality hub aboard Seabourn ships — a central lounge combining quality coffee, light bites, pastries, a library and guest services in one welcoming space. It is the natural gathering point for morning coffee and afternoon refreshments throughout the voyage.

Do Seabourn expedition ships have submarines?

No. The submarine programme on Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit has been withdrawn. Shore access on the expedition ships is now delivered through an extensive Zodiac and kayak fleet, supplemented by two helicopters, and led by an expert naturalist and expedition team. This remains a comprehensive programme for polar and remote-destination exploration.

What has changed with the Seabourn Club loyalty programme?

Seabourn Club has undergone significant revisions. Members who previously held higher status tiers report meaningful reductions in benefits and point-earning rates compared to earlier iterations of the programme. While it still rewards frequent guests, it is no longer widely regarded as the industry-leading loyalty programme it once was. Review current programme terms carefully before booking if loyalty benefits are a primary consideration.

Are there any new Seabourn ships on order?

As of 2026, Seabourn has not announced any new ship builds or orders. The fleet remains at five vessels. This is in contrast to competitors such as Explora Journeys, which is delivering its sixth ship by 2028, and Silversea, which continues an active expansion programme.

Is Seabourn all-inclusive?

Yes. Seabourn fares is all-inclusive and include all dining across all restaurants with no surcharge, an open bar throughout the voyage (wine, Champagne, spirits, cocktails, beer, soft drinks), Wi-Fi for all devices and all gratuities and service charges. Shore excursions are at additional cost unless included in a specific fare type or suite category.
