Explora Journeys launched its Explora Club loyalty programme in April 2025 — and with it came one of the most generous status match offers in luxury cruising. If you've spent years building status with another premium cruise line, you no longer have to start from zero.

What Is the Explora Journeys Status Match Programme?
The Explora Club Status Match is a one-time transfer programme that allows guests holding elite loyalty status with a qualifying luxury cruise line to be recognised at an equivalent tier within Explora Club — without needing to earn that status through sailings with Explora Journeys first.
The programme is designed to remove the biggest barrier facing any new luxury cruise line: persuading experienced, status-conscious travellers to leave behind hard-won privileges and start again at the bottom. With the Explora Club Status Match, guests holding loyalty status with other cruise loyalty programmes are invited to enjoy equivalent level benefits from their very first Journey.
Explora Journeys president Anna Nash has described Explora Club as "an authentic program built around the needs of the guests — and what they have asked us for in order to feel recognized and valued as customers." The status match offer is a direct expression of that philosophy.
The programme launched alongside Explora Club in April 2025. A second phase followed in July 2025, adding online points access and expanding the status match to include Oceania Cruises, bringing the total number of eligible brands to 11.
Which Cruise Lines Are Eligible?
Eleven cruise brands are currently recognised within the status match framework. These span the full breadth of the ultra-luxury and premium luxury segments:

🧭 MSC Voyagers Club Members — Read This
As Explora Journeys is part of the MSC Group, there is a direct cross-match pathway for MSC Voyagers Club members. MSC Voyagers Club Gold Tier maps to Explora Club Gold, while MSC's Blue Diamond tier translates to Explora Club Platinum. Check the full conversion table on the Explora Journeys website for every MSC tier equivalent.
⚠️ Carnival Cruises — Not Currently Eligible
Carnival is not one of the cruise lines eligible for a direct Explora Journeys status match — although there is an indirect route. Carnival guests who hold Platinum or Diamond status can join an MSC Cruises voyage first, match their new MSC status, and then use that to match into Explora Club.
Understanding the Five Explora Club Tiers
The tier thresholds are defined as follows: Classic at 0 points, Silver from 1 to 5,000 points, Gold from 5,001 to 20,000, Platinum from 20,001 to 50,000, and Diamond beginning at 50,001 points. Points are earned through three main routes:
- Nights at sea: 100 points per night in Ocean Suites, 200 per night in Penthouse Suites, 300 per night in Ocean Residences.
- Eligible onboard spend: Ocean Wellness treatments, laundry, boutique purchases, specialty dining and premium beverages.
- Destination Experiences: Shore excursions and curated experiences booked in advance or onboard.
Unlike some cruise programmes that are introducing rolling windows, Explora Club allows guests to retain their tier indefinitely once achieved. This matters — especially for status-matched members who want to protect what they've earned.

Explora permits only one lifetime status match per member. Travel advisors recommend timing the application just before a longer voyage to maximise the immediate benefits you can enjoy during that sailing.
How to Apply for the Explora Club Status Match
The application process is refreshingly straightforward. Here's what to do:

Create Your My Explora Account
Visit explorajourneys.com and register for a free My Explora account. US guests are automatically enrolled in Explora Club when they complete a journey reservation; guests in all other countries can voluntarily enrol, even before making any booking.

Enrol in Explora Club
Once your account is created, consent to Explora Club membership. Members will receive their Explora Club Membership Number via email after completing registration.

Gather Your Proof of Status
Acceptable proof includes a scan, photo, or screenshot of your current loyalty card or membership documentation showing your status level with an eligible luxury cruise brand.

Submit Your Status Match Request
Log into your My Explora account and submit a Status Match request, uploading your proof of status. If you are a member of multiple loyalty programmes, you can choose which proof to upload and select the loyalty programme you want to match with. You can refer to the conversion tables to determine which option is the most beneficial.

Await Confirmation & Enjoy Your Status
When a status match is approved before sailing but after booking, benefits apply immediately and/or while onboard. Requests processed after sailing will place you in the matched tier without including points from previous voyages.
⚠️ Important Timing Note
If guests enrol less than 72 hours before departure, Explora Journeys does not guarantee that rewards are automatically provided onboard due to communication delays with the onboard system. If you are not recognised as an Explora Club member on arrival, contact the Guest Services team immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply for a Status Match before I've booked an Explora Journeys Voyage ?
Yes. Enrolment in Explora Club is open to everyone over 18 (21 in the US), including those who have not yet booked or sailed with Explora Journeys. You can sign up, submit your status match request and have your matched tier confirmed ahead of making any booking — so your benefits are ready from the moment you reserve.
Is there a cost to join Explora Club or apply for a status match?
No. Explora Club membership is completely free, and there is no charge to submit a status match application. The only requirement is that you hold verifiable status with one of the 11 eligible cruise lines at the time of your request.
Will my status match give me the maximum points within my matched tier?
No — a status match places you at the entry point of the matched tier, not the top. For example, if you are matched to Gold, you will be granted the minimum points to qualify for Gold (5,001 points), not the maximum. Any points you have already legitimately earned through Explora Journeys sailings are not added on top of the matched level — the higher of the two figures applies.
Can I apply for a status match from more than one cruise line?
Explora Journeys permits only one lifetime status match per member. However, if you hold status with multiple eligible programmes, you can choose whichever produces the most advantageous Explora Club tier for you. Check the official conversion table on the Explora Journeys FAQ page before deciding.
When will I be able to see my points and tier in My Explora Account?
The personalised My Explora dashboard — showing your points balance, tier status and voyage history — became available from July 2025, as part of the second phase of the Explora Club rollout. Members can log in to explorajourneys.com to view their status in real time.
Does my Explora Club status ever expire?
Unlike some cruise lines that are moving to rolling annual qualification windows, Explora Club tiers are retained indefinitely once achieved. This is one of the programme's most appealing features for long-term loyalty — especially for members who may travel less frequently.

The short answer is yes — particularly for experienced luxury cruisers who have built status elsewhere and are curious about what Explora Journeys has to offer. The status match is genuinely generous: benefits apply from the very first sailing, the programme covers an impressive 11 cruise lines, and membership is free with no strings attached.
The one-time nature of the match means you should apply strategically — ideally just before a confirmed voyage, and choosing the programme that yields the highest Explora Club tier for your current status. If you hold top-tier status with Silversea, Seabourn or Regent, you could find yourself close to or at Platinum level on your first Explora journey.
